Living in Niagara Falls my whole life, last summer I realized that I had never gone on the Maid of the Mist not to mention other well-known attractions. My friends and family always raved about going on the Maid of the Mist attraction. I decided it was time I take a trip down to Clifton Hill and the Niagara Parks area to enjoy some of the great attractions Niagara Falls has to offer. Yes, there is more to Niagara Falls than wax museums, arcades and cheesy tourist shops as some people like to think. We have some really awesome natural wonder experiences that will amaze you.
First I made my way to Journey Behind the Falls, located in the Table Rock Welcome Centre. You pay your fare, are given a raincoat and wait in line to take one of the elevators down to the bottom of the Falls. I was nervous, excited and anxious. I had no clue what I was in store for. Were the elevator doors going to open at the bottom and poof you were right in front of the mighty Falls?
Once I boarded the elevator the butterflies in my stomach became more apparent. I had only ever seen the Falls from the top looking down, which made me a little nervous because of its massive power. Now I was going to be right beside it looking up. I had no idea what to expect.
We reached the bottom, doors open and we are in what looks like a tunnel. I was a bit relieved not going to lie. Then it hit me – the sound of the Falls. It was loud and overpowering, it was incredible. I followed the first tunnel to the middle where you could only stand and look through a medium sized opening with a railing. The sound and water pouring into this hole was so forceful. I was in awe. How have I never been down here before? It is one thing to view the Falls from the top but to be right beside it at the bottom was breathtaking. After I stood there with a huge look of amazement on my face I decided to take a stroll down one of the other tunnels. This time I ended up walking out on a deck right beside the Falls. I was literally standing right beside the falls. I couldn’t believe it. It was breathtaking. You really felt the massive power of the Falls and you respected it. I also got unbelievably wet (so much for the raincoat). I took a look around at the other people taking in this incredible view and everyone had the same look of “WOW” on their faces.
Journey Behind the Falls was inspiring and gave me a fresh look at the Falls (something I look at everyday!). I highly recommend this attraction to everyone!
Next time….. my experience on Maid of the Mist.
Tip: If you are looking for a great place to view the Falls from the top without the crowds and mist – the Niagara Falls Hotel Marriotthas a viewing area right bedside their building. Every morning I walk past and get to look at the view and it is spectacular. I will post some pics soon!

How about another story like this? Very interesting. I started doing technical writing back in my youth, and this had the few most important traits of a good article, engaging and fun to read. Thank you.
